Poff, Jr.
Frank Poff has practiced law with Jack Boyd and Mark Burgess since
1998. He is rated AV (best) by the Martindale-Hubbell attorney
rating service. He has litigated civil cases of all sizes and types
since 1982. He primarily defends large toxic tort cases, but enjoys
handling other litigation, domestic relations cases and personal injury matters for various
individuals, insurance companies and corporate clients, including
PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, General Refractories Company, GREFCO,
Inc., Kelly-Moore Paint Company, Imo Industries, Terex Corporation,
American Optical Corporation, and Rite Engineering & Manufacturing
Corporation, among many others.
Frank has
practiced in Texas since 1990 and Arkansas since 1982. He was
admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court in 1988
and is licensed to appear before the 5th and 8th U.S. Courts of
Appeal, U.S. District Courts in Texas and Arkansas, and the U.S.
Court of Military Appeals in Washington D.C.
Frank is
accredited by the State Bar of Texas and certified by the Supreme
Court of Arkansas as an Attorney/Mediator. He has also handled
"mediation from the Bench" while sitting as Special Judge for
numerous Courts over the years. In 2006 he was appointed by Arkansas
Governor Mike Huckabee to serve as Special Associate Justice of the
Arkansas Supreme Court.
He is a
past President of the Texarkana Bar Association and has served in
the Arkansas Bar Association's House of Delegates. He maintains
membership in numerous legal associations including the Northeast
Texas Bar Association, the Texas State Bar, the American Bar
Association, Arkansas Trial Lawyers Association, and the
International Association of Defense Counsel. He was elected and
served as a City Director for Texarkana, Arkansas from 2002 until
2005.
Frank
obtained his Juris Doctorate from the University of Arkansas at
Little Rock, where he served as Chief Justice of the Honor Council,
on the staff of the UALR NewsBrief, and as the Vice President of the
Student Bar Association. Frank received his undergraduate degree in
History and Political Science at Hendrix College. He has since
served on the Hendrix College Alumni Association Board of Governors.
Frank has
always been active in community matters. In the eight years he
practiced in Little Rock following admission to the bar, he was a
goodwill ambassador to Pakistan for five weeks, a Little Rock
Jaycee, board member of the American Heart Association, founding
member of a Lion's Club, and was a Rotarian. His move to Texarkana
in 1990 did not lessen his civic interest. He was awarded the
prestigious Wilbur Award from Leadership Texarkana for his volunteer
work in 2003; was the initial Chairman of the Texarkana, Arkansas
Municipal Auditorium Restoration Commission; served as a Delegate to
the National Easter Seals Conventions for the past ten years and is
currently the Vice-Chairman of the National House of Delegates of
Easter Seals, Inc. He is the current Chairman of the Texarkana,
Arkansas Historical Preservation Commission, He is a past Chairman
or past President of the East Texas Easter Seals Board of Directors,
the Temple Memorial Rehabilitation Center Board of Directors, the
Texarkana Repertory Company Board of Directors, the Texarkana
Resources for the Disabled Board of Directors, the Texarkana Teen
Court Advisory Board, a past vice-chairman of the Texarkana,
Arkansas Planning Commission, and current Director of numerous not
for profit boards, including the Texarkana Regional Arts &
Humanities Council, and the Junior League of Texarkana's Advisory
Board.
Frank and
Theresa, his wife since college, have three sons, Lin, Will and
Curt, who are all at Hendrix College, Frank's alma mater. Frank's
hobbies include watching all of them ski & wakeboard, and trying to
keep up with them and Theresa on the volleyball court.
